I'm starting off on a new adventure...
Yes, motherhood is a huge adventure, but I guess God has a few other adventures in store for me as well. After many years of learning the ropes of the event planning industry, I have decided to step out on my own and start an event planning company. Bluebird Signature Events is in the works and will be up and running in a matter of weeks (Don't try searching for the website just yet. My fabulous web designer is working on it. Thanks Josh!).
My background is incredibly varied with corporate events to private parties to weddings, so Bluebird Signature Events will be available for coordinating it all. However, this year I'll be primarily focusing on weddings. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do what I love, but to have the freedom to create a schedule that will work with my little guy. God is good!
Because of all of these changes, my posting here on House Lewis will be postponed for the time being. I'll have a blog on my company website where I will post about events I've been working on, share party and decor ideas, and all that good stuff. I'll also still be posting on my family website as well.
Check back in a couple of weeks and I'll leave a post with my company website so you can all follow me there. Thank you for all of your love and support!

We Made It...well sort of
We've said farewell to our life in the city and have begun to dig our way out of the mountains of boxes to begin this next phase of life. (Thank you to all of the family and friends who helped make this move possible!) Although the condo is now empty, we're still not done moving. We ran out of time to use the moving truck, so we ended up dumping all of the smaller boxes in my parents garage (Thanks for letting us take of a bay of your garage!). We plan on using a trailer next week to haul the rest of our stash to our storage unit.
It has recently become a dream, and maybe a goal, to have professional movers move all of my things for me. I have a strong dislike for packing up, hauling around and unpacking. It has brought on an urge to purge anything extra we may have lying around. I can't even tell you how many times over the past few weeks I've said to Adam, "Have you been using that recently? Let's donate it." (Thank you to the Salvation Army for your pick up service. You are wonderful, and if you come by in another week I'll have another bag of goodies for you to take away.).
Well, I thought I would leave you with a little inspiration for the day. I think these ice cream cone cupcakes would be adorable for a kid's birthday party. I found the recipe over at Papery and Cakery. Check out their website and you'll be inspired!

Cardboard, Newspaper and Dust Bunnies
I am writing this as I sit on the floor surrounded by cardboard boxes, stacks of newspapers and a gazillion dust bunnies. That's right. We're moving! Our lease was up so rather than sign on for another year, we decided to pack up and take over my parents upstairs (that they so graciously offered to us) while we await the arrival our little one. Life is a little crazy at the moment.
So please excuse my lack of blogging this week. I need to get back to packing up our stuff and cleaning up the dust bunnies that appeared out of nowhere when the furniture was moved around. On to the next adventure!

A Weekend By The Sea
Recently Adam and I decided that we would take a weekend trip down to the Oregon Coast to visit his family that was in town. We had family from Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Arizona all in one place! So we piled into the car along with our dog Duke, Adam's brother Alex and his new bride Kellie, and their dog Riley.
The car was full and we were ready to go. After about 5 hours of driving, 6 bathroom breaks, handfuls of snacks, multiple cds and a game of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire...we were finally there. It was such a fun weekend. We had a bbq with all of our family on the first night. We stayed with Adam's cousin Rebecca, her husband, Chris, and their adorable son, Fisher.
The next morning we walked to the beach and then spent the afternoon with all of the family. Unfortunately we had to head back that evening. Our trip home took longer because we made a side trip to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. All I can say is...yum!
It was such a fun weekend and a rare oppotunity to spend time with our extended family.

My dog, Duke, has "little dog syndrome". He's only 7 pounds, but he thinks he's enormous! The big dogs, Jack and Riley, had a lot of patience with him on this trip.
Rebecca and her adorable son, Fisher. This little boy has the greatest facial expressions...have I said that he's adorable yet?
This is Adam's grandpa, Maurie. He was quite smitten with Fisher as well.
This is Evalue, Adam's grandma. She has such a fun personality and I loved being able to spend time with her.

Wedding Whirlwind
Oh my neglected blog readers...thank you for your patience! The wedding in California was just beautiful! The bride was stunning and looked just like Cinderella. It was such a sweet time of catching up with old friends, celebrating the new couple and tearing up the dance floor.
The wedding day was a sweltering 103 degrees! This heat called for a way to cool down. Since we were in our dress-up clothes, running through a sprinkler wasn't an option. However, an In and Out chocolate milkshake did just the trick! Oh yum!
What's your favorite moment at a wedding? Mine is watching the groom's face as he sees his bride walk down the aisle. Priceless! The picture above captures all of the joy and happiness of their day. Congrats Katie and Mikey!
The next few days were filled with Disneyland, California Adventures and Universal Studios. What a blast! We were determined to fit it all in, and I think we actually went on every ride we had hoped to go on. We got home just in time for my brother-in-law's wedding. There's more to come on that wedding...I'm just waiting for the pictures, so stay tuned. :)

How Does Your Garden Grow
I dream of having a garden. Someday I'll go out in the evening and pluck fresh veggies to serve for dinner. I'll cut bouquets of flowers to decorate my home. And I'll let the grass tickle my feet on a hot summer evening. However, for the time being I live in a condo where space is a bit limited. That's why these contained "grass gardens" from A+R are so much fun. They add a little green to a small space. And just think, mowing the lawn is as easy as snip of the scissors!
